About This Community
Southern Downs Council has an approximate area of 7,100 km².
It is comprised of 89 suburbs including Allan, Allora, Amiens, Applethorpe, Bapaume, Berat, Bony Mountain, Broadwater, Canningvale, Cannon Creek, Cherry Gully, Clintonvale, Cottonvale, Cunningham, Dalcouth, Danderoo, Deuchar, Diamondvale, Ellinthorp, Eukey, Fletcher, Fleurbaix, Forest Springs, Freestone and Girraween plus parts of another 3 suburbs.
It is comprised of the localities of Ballandean, Dalveen, Elbow Valley, Emu Vale, Glenlyon, Goldfields, Goomburra, Greymare, Karara, Nundubbermere, Palgrave, Pikedale, Pikes Creek, Springdale, Sundown and Swanfels plus parts of Leyburn.
It is surrounded by the councils of Goondiwindi, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, Tenterfield and Toowoomba Region.
It is within the state electorate of Southern Downs.
It is within the federal electorate of Maranoa.
