Wakefield Council has an approximate area of 3,500 km².
It is comprised of the suburbs of Avon, Barunga Gap, Beaufort, Bowillia, Bowmans, Bumbunga, Burnsfield, Erith, Hope Gap, Hoskin Corner, Kallora, Kybunga, Lake View, Lochiel, Marola, Mount Templeton, Nantawarra, Pinery, Proof Range, Rochester, Saints, Stockyard Creek, Watchman and Whitwarta plus parts of 8 suburbs including Barabba, Grace Plains, Hamley Bridge, Hoyleton and Long Plains.
It is comprised of the localities of Balaklava, Barunga, Blyth, Boucaut, Brinkworth, Cameron, Condowie, Dalkey, Everard, Everard Central, Goyder, Hall, Hart, Inkerman, Owen, Port Wakefield, Snowtown and Stow plus parts of Alma, Bute, Clinton, Halbury, Mundoora and Wokurna.
It is surrounded by the councils of Barunga West District, Clare And Gilbert Valleys, Light Regional, Mallala District, Northern Areas, Port Pirie Regional and Yorke Peninsula.
It is comprised of parts of the state electorates of Frome and Goyder.
It is comprised of parts of the federal electorates of Grey and Wakefield.
