About Us

The Noosa Community Support Centre assists frail and elderly people and younger people with disabilities with their day-to-day living. The centre provides basic maintenance and support services to clients and their carers, assisting clients to continue living independently in their community.

 

Centre-based services

  • Centre-based day care is available from 8.45 am to 4.00 pm, providing social interaction for residents and respite for carers. Services such as hairdressing, physiotherapy or pedicures are available during this time.

  • A carer support group meets at the centre on the third Tuesday of each month at 1.30 pm.

  • The centre can arrange client transport to and from the centre.

  

Home services

Respite care in the home is available to enable the carer to have time off from their caring role. Carers may remain in the home or leave the home. A staff member suitably experienced to the client's condition substitutes for the carer in their absence.

The centre also offers:

  • home maintenance services, such as replacing light bulbs or replacing tap washers
  • home modifications, such as the installation of rails and ramps or hand held showers
  • ?assistance in the home with food preparation (cutting up vegetables) and domestic chores
  • assistance with personal care in the client's home, such as eating, bathing and dressing.

Support services

The centre offers:

  • allied health services, such as physiotherapy, speech pathology or podiatry

  • social support, which enables clients to do their grocery shopping with a volunteer's assistance. The centre organises transport for these outings. If a client is unable to leave their home, a staff member can do tasks such as banking and shopping on the client's behalf

  • counselling and support services for the client

  • transport to medical appointments, for a small fee.
