parkrun - Redland Bay
Parkrun Australia
About Us
A very scenic course which starts and finishes in the south-eastern corner of the Sel Outridge Park on the edge of Redland Bay, between the ferry terminal and the Redland Bay Hotel. Starts with two anti-clockwise laps around the grassy perimeter of the oval and then joins the concrete path heading north for stunning views of Moreton Bay and its southern islands. The course continues along the waterfront to the turn-around point at the Redland Bay golf course, and returns south along the same concrete path to finish at the oval. The course is mostly flat, with only two tiny inclines, one at Bay Street and the other approaching the turn-around point; you’ll barely notice them because you’ll be too busy taking in the scenery. Facilities The course starts and finishes in the Sel Outridge Park. Along with the oval there is a children’s playground, exercise equipment, half basketball court, cricket net, barbeque facilities and shelters. Taps are available in the park, as well as along the course at the end of Bay Street. Public toilets are available along the side of the oval adjoining Peel Street. Getting There Location of startThe run starts in the bottom (south-eastern) sector of the oval, nearest to the ferry terminal. Getting there by public transportBus routes 250, 280, 281 and 282 service the area to provide connections with the bay island ferries. Stop ID 310905, at the intersection of Peel Street, Hamilton Street and Broadwater Terrace, is adjacent to the Sel Outridge Park. Please check the Translink website for route and timetable details (buses, Eastern region network). Getting there on footFrom the Redland Bay shopping precinct, head south along Broadwater Terrace until you pass the Redland Bay Hotel. Take Peel Street left, towards the bay, and head across the oval to the start line, just south of the playground. From the ferry terminal (Redland Bay Marina), head north along the concrete path through the ferry carpark to the Sel Outridge Park. Getting there by roadEnter the Redland Bay area from Cleveland Redland Bay Road (route 47). Approaching from the south, take German Church Road heading east and then turn right at Gordon Road. Veer left onto Meissner Street and keep left onto Weinam Street. Continue straight onto Pitt Street and then Hamilton Street. Approaching from the north, take Boundary Street heading east. At the round-about at the end of Boundary Street, take the second exit onto Broadwater Terrace, which becomes Hamilton Street at the intersection of Peel Street. Ample parking is available along Hamilton Street and the Redland Bay Hotel (Broadwater Terrace) have kindly permitted the use of their carpark. Please minimise noise for local residents along the Esplanade by using these areas rather than coming down Peel Street. Post Run Coffee Every week we grab a post parkrun coffee in Uncle Bobs Bakery, Redland Bay - please come and join us!
