During your stay
Our pharmacy staff will talk to you about your medicines, work with your doctors and nurses to ensure that all medicines prescribed are right for you and that they work together.
Please ask our pharmacy staff any questions about your medicines.
On discharge (when you leave)
Our pharmacy staff will ensure that a PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) prescription has been written for you to obtain from a regular retail pharmacy and check your own medicines and label them with correct directions.
Payment
Medications given during your inpatient stay are free of charge. You will only be charged for medication that you are given to take home on discharge or as an outpatient. You will be charged in the same way that you pay for prescriptions at your community pharmacy.
An invoice will be included with your new supplies or sent to your home address. Please advise staff if you have a concession card or if your home address has changed.
Under the Queensland Health non-return policy medications dispensed and removed from the hospital environment cannot be returned for a refund. Patients are requested to check with their doctor or pharmacist that their dispensed medications are correct before leaving hospital.
