About Us
Fremantle Older Adult Mental Health Service (FOAMHS) is a specialist mental health service providing assessment and treatment to people 65 and over, who live in the Fremantle Hospital catchment area and who have a mental health disorder that may be complicated by the physical conditions of ageing.
We see older adults who may experience prolonged sadness,depression and/or agitated mood, self harm, suicidal thoughts or behaviours, delusional thinking, hallucinations, dementia and the behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. Social isolation secondary to a mental health conditions, difficulties with stress/anxiety/fearfulness and emotional and behavioural reactions to events such as loss and death.
Access is preferred by doctors' referral however we will take third person referrals e.g. family, carers.
Involvement with and providing support for families and carers of our patients is integral to our service.
